Bold Text Generator

Type or paste your text and get bold text you can use in Instagram bios, LinkedIn posts, X, WhatsApp, Discord, comments and chats. Free, instant, no sign-up.

What it does: A bold text generator turns normal letters into bold Unicode characters such as ๐€๐๐‚ or ๐—”๐—•๐—–. The result is plain text, not formatting, so you can copy it and paste it into any app that supports Unicode, even where there is no bold button.

How does a bold text generator work?

Unicode, the standard that defines the characters computers can display, includes a block called Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols. It was originally added for mathematics and contains complete sets of bold, italic, script and fraktur letters. A bold text generator simply swaps each normal letter for its matching character in that block. For example, A (U+0041) becomes ๐€ (U+1D400), and a (U+0061) becomes ๐š (U+1D41A).

Because these are separate characters and not a style applied to normal letters, they stay bold when you copy and paste them, even into places that do not support formatting.

Why it is not โ€œrealโ€ bold

To an app, ๐€ is a different character from A. That is why it can look bold anywhere, and also why spell checkers, search boxes and screen readers may not treat it like ordinary text.

Where can you use bold text?

Paste generated bold text into places that accept plain text, for example:

  • Social media bios and names on Instagram, X, TikTok, Facebook and LinkedIn.
  • Captions, posts and comments where you want a heading or key phrase to stand out.
  • Chat apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord and Messenger.
  • Profile fields like headlines, โ€œaboutโ€ lines, link-in-bio titles and gamer tags.
  • Emails, notes and presentations when you only need a quick emphasis in plain text.

Some apps restrict usernames or handles to standard letters, so generated bold text may be rejected there.

Apps that already have their own bold shortcut

If you are writing inside one of these, the built-in method is the better choice:

WhatsAppPut asterisks around the text: *bold*
SlackPut asterisks around the text: *bold*
DiscordUse double asterisks: **bold**

HTMLWrap the text in <strong>โ€ฆ</strong>
Word, Google Docs and similar editorsSelect text and press Ctrl+B (Windows) or Cmd+B (Mac)

When to use it, and when to avoid it

Good uses

  • Short headlines and hooks at the start of a caption.
  • One or two key words per post, not whole paragraphs.
  • Bio lines and section labels where there is no formatting.

Think twice

  • Accessibility: many screen readers announce each bold Unicode character by its long name or skip it, so important information should stay in normal text.
  • Search visibility: bold Unicode letters may not match normal-letter searches, so keep your main keywords, brand name and contact details in regular text.
  • Readability: long stretches of bold text are tiring to read and look spammy.
  • Compatibility: very old devices or limited fonts may show empty boxes (โ–ฏ) instead of letters.

Bold text generator FAQ

What is a bold text generator?

A bold text generator converts normal letters and numbers into bold Unicode characters. Because the output is plain text rather than formatting, you can copy it and paste it into any app that supports Unicode, even where there is no bold button.

How do I make text bold on Instagram?

Instagram does not offer a bold button for captions or bios. Type your text into the generator, copy the bold version, and paste it into your caption, bio or comment.

Is bold Unicode text real bold formatting?

No. Real bold formatting, such as HTML strong tags or Ctrl+B, changes how normal letters are displayed. Bold Unicode text uses different characters that are designed to look bold, so it travels with the text when you copy it.

Does bold text copy and paste work everywhere?

It works in most modern apps, browsers and phones that can display Unicode. Very old devices or apps with limited fonts may show empty boxes instead of the bold letters.

Can screen readers read bold Unicode text?

Often not well. Many screen readers announce each bold Unicode letter by its character name or skip it, so avoid using generated bold text for important information, long passages, or anything that must be accessible.

Is bold Unicode text bad for SEO?

It can be. Search engines may not treat bold Unicode letters as the same words as normal letters, so they can be harder to match to searches. Use it for short decorative text and keep keywords in normal text.

How do I bold text in WhatsApp, Discord or Slack?

Use each app's own formatting: put asterisks around text in WhatsApp (*text*) and Slack (*text*), or double asterisks in Discord (**text**). No generator is needed for those apps.

Does the generator bold numbers, symbols and accented letters?

It converts the letters A to Z, a to z and the digits 0 to 9 in most styles. Symbols, emoji, spaces and accented letters stay unchanged because Unicode has no matching bold characters for them in these styles.

Is my text stored or sent anywhere?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript, so the text you type is not uploaded to a server.
