What it does: A bold text generator turns normal letters into bold Unicode characters such as ๐๐๐ or ๐๐๐. The result is plain text, not formatting, so you can copy it and paste it into any app that supports Unicode, even where there is no bold button.
More bold styles
Your text is converted in your browser and is never uploaded. Letters AโZ and digits 0โ9 are converted; symbols, emoji and accented letters stay as they are.

Tip: do a quick preview after pasting. Some fonts and older devices display bold Unicode a little differently, so check it on the platform you are posting to.

Unicode, the standard that defines the characters computers can display, includes a block called Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols. It was originally added for mathematics and contains complete sets of bold, italic, script and fraktur letters. A bold text generator simply swaps each normal letter for its matching character in that block. For example, A (U+0041) becomes ๐ (U+1D400), and a (U+0061) becomes ๐ (U+1D41A).
Because these are separate characters and not a style applied to normal letters, they stay bold when you copy and paste them, even into places that do not support formatting.
To an app, ๐ is a different character from A. That is why it can look bold anywhere, and also why spell checkers, search boxes and screen readers may not treat it like ordinary text.
| Unicode bold (this tool) | Real bold (Ctrl+B, <strong>, Markdown) | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Different characters that look bold | Style applied to normal letters |
| Works where there is no bold button | Yes | No |
| Survives copy and paste as plain text | Yes | Usually no |
| Screen reader friendly | Often poor | Yes |
| Search and find-in-page match | Often does not match normal letters | Yes |
| Best use | Short decorative text in bios and posts | Documents, web pages, anything that must be accessible |
Paste generated bold text into places that accept plain text, for example:
Some apps restrict usernames or handles to standard letters, so generated bold text may be rejected there.
If you are writing inside one of these, the built-in method is the better choice:
| App | How to bold |
|---|---|
Put asterisks around the text: *bold* | |
| Slack | Put asterisks around the text: *bold* |
| Discord | Use double asterisks: **bold** |
| Markdown (GitHub, Reddit and others) | Use double asterisks: **bold** |
| HTML | Wrap the text in <strong>โฆ</strong> |
| Word, Google Docs and similar editors | Select text and press Ctrl+B (Windows) or Cmd+B (Mac) |
A bold text generator converts normal letters and numbers into bold Unicode characters. Because the output is plain text rather than formatting, you can copy it and paste it into any app that supports Unicode, even where there is no bold button.
Instagram does not offer a bold button for captions or bios. Type your text into the generator, copy the bold version, and paste it into your caption, bio or comment.
No. Real bold formatting, such as HTML strong tags or Ctrl+B, changes how normal letters are displayed. Bold Unicode text uses different characters that are designed to look bold, so it travels with the text when you copy it.
It works in most modern apps, browsers and phones that can display Unicode. Very old devices or apps with limited fonts may show empty boxes instead of the bold letters.
Often not well. Many screen readers announce each bold Unicode letter by its character name or skip it, so avoid using generated bold text for important information, long passages, or anything that must be accessible.
It can be. Search engines may not treat bold Unicode letters as the same words as normal letters, so they can be harder to match to searches. Use it for short decorative text and keep keywords in normal text.
Use each app's own formatting: put asterisks around text in WhatsApp (*text*) and Slack (*text*), or double asterisks in Discord (**text**). No generator is needed for those apps.
It converts the letters A to Z, a to z and the digits 0 to 9 in most styles. Symbols, emoji, spaces and accented letters stay unchanged because Unicode has no matching bold characters for them in these styles.
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript, so the text you type is not uploaded to a server.
